What is an office wall?

An office wall is a fixed glass partition held in a slim metal profile. This is used to divide a workspace without building a solid wall. It lets daylight pass straight through, so you can separate a meeting room, a quiet area or a manager’s office while the whole floor still feels open and connected. Despite the steel look, an Emezzi office wall is made from aluminium, not from steel.

Unlike a steel door, which opens and closes smoothly, an office wall stays fixed in place. Combine an office wall with a pivot door or a sliding door, so the wall divides the space and the door provides a way through. An office wall is closely related to the steel wall used in homes, but applied to a working environment.

Office walls made from aluminium

Let’s be clear: an Emezzi office wall has a slim, black, industrial steel look, but it is made from aluminium rather than steel.

An aluminium office wall brings real advantages in an office. Aluminium is around 15 percent lighter than steel, which makes the wall easier to handle and to install. Also aluminium asks less of the floor and ceiling. It does not rust, so the wall keeps its look over the years. 

Because we make our aluminium profiles ourselves, your wall has a sleek profile with no visible welding seams. For most people, an aluminium office wall is hard to tell apart from steel, at a friendlier price.

Where an office wall works best

An office wall works well wherever you want to bring structure to a space while keeping it light and open. These are a few typical uses:

• A meeting room set apart from the open-plan office, but still bright and visible
• A manager’s office that keeps a connection with the team office
• A quiet zone for focused work, divided from busier areas
• A reception or entrance area, marked off from the rest of the floor

Choose a folding wall where you want the option to open up or close off a space as needed, for example a meeting room where you occasionally need more space.

Because an office wall is fixed in place, the floor and ceiling need to be solid enough to secure it to. It also helps to keep the area clear, so the installer has room to work on the day.

Made to measure in the colour and glass of your choice

Like every Emezzi product, an office wall is made to measure, so it fits your space exactly. Choose the RAL colour that suits your office. The standard finish is black (RAL 9005), but almost any RAL colour is possible. For the glass, pick clear glass, a tinted option such as bronze or grey, or matt glass when you want more privacy. This last option is perfect around a meeting room. The glass is always laminated, for a strong and safe finish.
