The finish and maintenance of Emezzi aluminium doors
The quality of an Emezzi door is largely determined by its finish. It affects not only how the door looks in your space, but also how well it stands up to daily use over time.
Unlike traditional steel doors that require regular maintenance to prevent rust, Emezzi’s aluminium doors are finished with a high-quality powder coating that is both durable and entirely maintenance-free. Understanding how our doors are finished helps you choose the right look and keep them looking brand new for years to come.

The powder-coating process
Every aluminium profile we use is finished using an advanced powder-coating process in our workshop. Instead of applying liquid paint with a brush or spray gun, a dry powder is electrostatically applied to the aluminium. The profiles are then placed in a specialised oven where the powder cures into a solid, uniform layer.
This process creates a finish that is significantly tougher than conventional paint. It resists scratches, does not chip or peel, and provides excellent resistance to daily wear and tear.
Because the coating is applied before the door is assembled, every corner, edge, and surface receives the exact same coverage. There are no uneven spots, which is a common issue with traditional welded steel frames.
Texture and colour options
Our doors are characterised by a flat matt finish. This flat matt texture gives you the look of traditional steel without the glossy reflection of standard aluminium.
Because every door we manufacture is custom-made, you can choose any RAL colour for your frame at no extra cost. This makes it easy to match your interior doors perfectly to your existing window frames, walls, or skirting boards.
While any colour is possible, most customers choose our flat matt black (RAL 9005) because it offers the closest match to the classic steel look.Â
Other popular choices include white for a softer, Scandinavian look, or metallic bronze and gold to add warmth to design-led interiors. Whichever colour you choose, the finish is always a flat matt texture that looks like traditional steel.
Daily maintenance and cleaning
One of the main practical advantages of powder-coated aluminium over wood or steel is the lack of maintenance. Our doors never need to be repainted or treated against rust or moisture. This makes the doors highly suitable for use in your whole house.
Cleaning the frame is easy. You only need a soft microfiber cloth and warm water with a mild, non-abrasive detergent. Avoid using aggressive chemical cleaners or scouring pads, as these can dull the flat matt finish or scratch the surface. A simple wipe down once in a while is enough to remove dust and fingerprints.
Caring for the glass and mechanisms
The large glass panels in our doors are made of high-quality tempered safety glass. They can be cleaned using standard glass cleaners and a squeegee or lint-free cloth. To prevent streaks on the glass, try to avoid getting glass cleaner on the aluminium frame. If you use too much detergent, simply wipe it away with a damp cloth.
The moving parts of our doors, such as the hinges of hinged doors, sliding tracks of sliding doors, and pivot mechanisms of pivot doors are engineered for long-term use, and are lubricated during manufacturing.Â
The durability of the powder-coated layer means the frame is completely protected against household wear and tear. Because the finish does not degrade or fade over time, the structural aluminium underneath remains fully shielded without ever needing a fresh coat of paint.
