Rebate doors explained
A rebate door is the most practical of the steel-look doors when you want to give your interior a new look, without the building work. Such a door fits into your existing frame and overlaps the edges slightly, so the old door can be swapped for a steel-look one without any work around the opening.

What is a rebate door?
A rebate door is a door that closes over the frame rather than sitting flush within it. The edges of the door overlap the frame slightly, which is the rebate. Because of that overlap, the door covers the join between the door and the frame when it is closed.
The big advantage is that a rebate door fits onto your existing frame. Where a hinged door comes with its own frame, a rebate door uses the one you already have. That means you can replace an old door with a slim steel-look one without any renovation work around the opening.
How does a rebate door work?
A rebate door hangs on hinges and swings open like a familiar interior door. What sets it apart is the overlapping edge, which rests against the frame when the door is closed. That overlap gives a snug, neat close and hides the seam between the door and the frame.
Because a rebate door works with your current frame, fitting it is quick and happens without a lot of mess. There is no need to remove the frame, replaster the wall or redecorate around the opening, which is exactly why many people choose a rebate door during a renovation.
When do you choose a rebate door?
A rebate door is the natural choice when you want to keep your existing frame, because it is still in good condition. Do you simply want a more modern door? A rebate door gives you the aluminium steel-look without the need of replacing everything.
It is important to know that a rebate door is only available as a single door, not as a double door. If you are fitting out a wider opening, or starting from a bare opening with no frame, a hinged door with its own frame is usually the better route. Made to measure in aluminium
Like every Emezzi door, a rebate door is made to measure from aluminium rather than steel. Aluminium is lighter than steel, around 15 percent, so the door opens and closes easily. It does not rust. The only maintenance it needs is an occasional clean with a mild cleaning product.
Choose the door in the RAL colour that suits your interior. The standard finish is black, but almost any RAL colour is possible.
For the glass, you can choose from clear glass or a tinted option such as bronze, grey or matt, depending on how much privacy and light you want. The glass is always laminated, for a strong and safe finish.
