Aluminium sliding doors

An aluminium sliding door gives you the steel-look aesthetic without the weight that would make it harder to handle. The slim 30 millimetre aluminium profile runs in a precision top-mounted track, with high quality soft-close and soft-opening as an option. Engineered for daily residential use.

The result is a door that looks like steel, glides across the room effortlessly, and takes up none of the floor space that a hinged- or pivot door would.

Smooth sliding doors

Aluminium doors without losing floorspace

The sliding mechanism is what makes a door like this earn its place. Our internal aluminium sliding doors run on a precision track with the option for a build in soft-close and/or -opening. This makes the door(s) decelerate gently at the end of its travel, rather than hitting the stop. Adding this option is a incredible upgrade for an already great system.

The completely aluminium system keeps the door light enough that wear on the rollers stays at a minimum and can offer decades of use. The slim 30 millimetre profile gives you the slim sliding door look without adding unnecessary weight to the mechanism.

Where sliding doors save the day

A hinged door needs a clear arc of it’s own width for the swing. In a small ensuite, a walk-in wardrobe, or a narrow hallway, that arc eats into the usable space of the room. A sliding door uses none of that floor space, which is why it is the most space-efficient internal door solution available.

Sliding doors also suit open-plan dividers where the door is only occasionally closed, such as a kitchen-to-living-room opening or a study off a living room. When the door is open most of the time, a sliding door disappears along the wall or it’s side panels, rather than swinging into the room.

For any space where the wall behind a hinged door would be more useful than the door swing, a slim sliding door is the practical answer.

Why choose an overlay door?

Configure your own aluminium sliding door

Single, double bi-part, or telescopic sliding

Single, double bi-part, or telescopic sliding

Three sliding configurations cover most situations. Single sliding uses one panel that opens to one side, which suits standard door openings and is the most common configuration. Double bi-part sliding uses two panels that meet in the middle and each slide to their own side, which suits wider openings of up to around 300 centimetres.

Telescopic sliding stacks two or three panels on the same side, which suits very wide openings where there is no wall space on the other side for the panels to stack. The configurator handles each of these configurations automatically.

Glass options for sliding doors

Glass options for sliding doors

Six millimetre laminated safety glass is standard for sliding doors. Because sliding doors close with less inertia than hinged doors, six millimetre is sufficient across the range. Clear glass is the most-specified choice for open-plan dividers where maintaining light flow is important.

Frosted or reeded glass suits ensuite and bedroom slides where privacy matters. Bronze and grey tinted glass suit more design-led schemes where the glass itself is part of the aesthetic.

Wall/ceiling-mounted track or pocket sliding

For sliding doors, two main configurations are available. Wall-mounted sliding runs the track on the outside face of the wall. The door is visible when open, stacked against the wall beside the opening. This is the most flexible installation, because no wall cavity is needed.

Pocket sliding runs the door into a cavity within the wall or between cabinets, so it disappears completely when open. The visual outcome is cleaner, but it requires a cavity to slide in to. In a new-build or full renovation, the cavity can be built in from the start. In a retrofit, the wall needs to be opened up for the surveyor during the measurement visit and stay open up until after the install. For most retrofit installs where major building work is not on the table, wall-mounted sliding is the simpler and faster choice.

Why Emezzi

No track on the floor

Our system can be attached to a ceiling or wall with no floor track at all, giving a completely clean floor line. This is the recommended configuration for standard residential installs and the most popular choice across the range.

Our specialist advises which system suits your specific opening during the measurement visit.

Made to Measure and Professionally Installed

Custom-made, measured, delivered and installed

Every Emezzi aluminium sliding door is made to measure. You will therefore receive a visit from our specialist to take the measurements, checks the wall or ceiling structure for the track, and scope the installation detail. For pocket slider installs, the wall cavity needs to be prepared, before the door goes in.

The door is manufactured in our workshop in Nunspeet and installed by authorised dealers across the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, the UK and France. Your questions about lead times and the installation process are answered on the frequently asked questions page. Design your aluminium sliding door in the configurator and get an instant price.

Frequently asked questions about aluminium sliding doors

Is your question not listed? We are here to help you.

Can a sliding door be used in an external opening?

Standard Emezzi aluminium sliding doors suit internal openings and partially-protected external openings such as covered terraces and conservatories. For fully external openings exposed to weather, the standard range is not the right fit.

Are sliding doors more expensive than hinged?

A standard single sliding door is priced roughly in line with a hinged door of the same size. The track mechanism adds cost, but the absence of a frame offsets some of that. Pocket sliders and very wide bi-part sliders carry a small premium for the additional mechanism involved. The configurator shows the price live so you can compare both options before you decide.
