The installation of pivot doors
Choosing the right door is an important step when designing or redesigning your home. A pivot door is a popular option, because it does not require a traditional rebate door frame. Instead, the door rotates on a vertical axis via a compact hinge system in the floor and the ceiling.Â
To guarantee smooth operation and maintain the product warranty, we advise letting an Emezzi dealer install your door. The professional installation process of an aluminium pivot door differs from a standard hinged door in several ways.
Thanks to the lightweight properties of aluminium, the process is straightforward, clean, and fast for authorized installers.

No heavy structural wall reinforcement needed
When you prepare a renovation you often wonder if your walls need extra reinforcement. With a traditional door, the entire weight hangs from the wall, putting constant pressure on the casing and the surrounding structure.
A pivot door works differently. The wall does not carry any of the door’s weight. Because of this, there is no need to break open your walls. You don’t need to install steel beams or make complex structural adjustments to your home beforehand. This saves time and avoids unnecessary mess in your living space during the installation of your pivot door.
Safe combination with underfloor heating
You might ask yourself: will mounting a pivot door plate directly onto the floor cause problems for my underfloor heating? This is not an issue when the installation is handled by a professional. The compact floor plate of the pivot mechanism does not require deep anchoring.
The installer requires a drilling depth of exactly one centimeter into the top floor. Heating pipes for underfloor heating are almost always located at least two and a half to three centimeters deep. A drilling depth of one centimeter is therefore completely safe and will not damage your floor heating. A professional installer secures the floor plate with strong screws, ensuring a stable system without affecting your heating layout.
The steps of the professional installation process
The actual installation of the door is a transparent process that is usually completed by a specialist within a few hours. It begins with aligning the floor plate and the ceiling plate. The installers ensure these two points are perfectly plumb above each other, which is critical to make the door hang straight and swing smoothly in both directions.
Once the ceiling plate and floor plate are screwed into place, the aluminium door is lifted into position. The pivot mechanism is fully integrated inside the slim aluminium profile of the door. The installers simply click the door into the mounted plates. No heavy machinery or special tools are required. This keeps your room clean and dust-free.Â
Adjusting the pivot mechanism
After the aluminium door is securely in place, the final step for the installer is to precisely adjust the mechanism. The integrated pivot hinge features a high-quality closing function that automatically and smoothly shuts the door behind you.
With some small adjustment screws, the installer alters the closing speed of the door according to your preference. You can determine exactly how fast the door closes after you walk through it. Thanks to the built-in brake, the door closes gently and always stops exactly in the right position. This prevents the door from slamming and ensures reliable operation during daily use.
In short, an expert installation is quick, avoids messy renovation work, and is completely safe for underfloor heating. Discover the possibilities in our configurator.
