The advantages of hinged doors
The installation of a hinged door is one of the more straightforward jobs among the installation of steel-look doors. This door comes with its own frame and fits into the door opening much like a traditional door. To keep the door running smoothly and to keep your warranty valid, we recommend having an Emezzi dealer take care of the installation. Still, it helps to know what the work involves, so you can prepare your space and know what to expect.

The frame does the work
Unlike a pivot door or a sliding door, a hinged door comes with its own slim aluminium frame. That frame is fitted into the opening and carries the door, so the weight rests on the frame rather than on the floor or ceiling. Because of this, the installation of a hinged door asks just a little of your home: there is no drilling into the floor or the ceiling needed.
The door hangs from its hinges on one side. Since the frame is made to measure for your opening, the door fits neatly and swings smoothly.
Fitting into a new or existing frame
For the installation of a hinged door, you have two routes. The standard option is creating a slim aluminium frame, made to measure and fitted into the opening. It matches the door, with the same finish on both sides.
Do you already have a frame in place? Then we can fit the door into an existing frame, as long as it is a high quality wooden frame with a minimum depth of 49 millimetres. This can save work during the renovation, since the existing frame can be reused. During the measurement visit, an Emezzi dealer checks whether your frame is suitable, so you know in advance which route fits your situation.
The steps of the installation
The installation of the door itself is usually done within a few hours. It begins with fitting the frame into the opening. The precise alignment determines how well the door runs afterwards, so it is the part that gets the most care.
Once the door frame is in place, the installer hangs the door from its hinges and checks that it swings freely and closes neatly against the frame. The slim profiles have no visible welding seams, so the finished door has a clean line. As a final step, the installer adjusts the door so it sits exactly right in the opening.
A good fit for almost any room
Because the installation of a hinged door needs space on only one side, it works in most rooms without any special preparation. The one thing to check is that the door has room to swing open on its hinged side, with a clear space kept free of furniture and walls. A minimum space of the width of the door is needed.
Do you have little room to swing a door open? A sliding door may suit your door opening better, since it slides along the wall instead. An Emezzi dealer talks this through with you during the measurement visit.
Can I fit the door myself?
You can install the door yourself if you at least have some DIY experience. In that case, we provide a clear, step-by-step manual that takes you through each stage, from fitting the frame to hanging the door. Having an Emezzi dealer install it is the best way for a smooth result and keeps your warranty intact.
