The door type you choose depends on the space and the look you are after. Pivot doors make a strong visual impression and suit wider openings. Hinged doors are the most familiar type and work well in traditional rooms. Sliding doors save floor space in tighter areas. Glass options for black steel doors

All Emezzi doors come with laminated safety glass as standard. Pivot, sliding, and rebate doors have 6 millimetre laminated glass; hinged doors use 10 millimetre glass for extra strength. For privacy, frosted glass is a popular choice. Bronze and grey glass are available across all door types for a different look or atmosphere.

Bars, panels and proportions

The number of bars you add shapes the character of the door. A fully glazed door with no bars gives a clean, open look. Adding horizontal bars at 40 centimetres from the top and bottom creates a classic three or four-pane layout with more structure. Vertical bars divide the glass further. A combination of these bars gives a Crittall-style grid effect. Every combination is visible in the configurator before you commit.

Where black steel doors work best

Black steel doors suit almost any transition between rooms. Between the kitchen and living room for example, they divide the space without blocking light. In a hallway leading to a staircase, these doors add definition without making the space feel closed off. As a home office partition, they keep noise out while staying visually open. Between an ensuite and bedroom, or closing off a walk-in wardrobe, the black profile adds a considered, finished feel to the room.

Every Emezzi door is made to your exact measurements. After you order, we visit you at home to measure the door opening. We manufacture your new door in our production facility in Nunspeet, the Netherlands and install it at your home.

The maximum width per door leaf is 150 centimetres. For wider openings, a double-door configuration or a fixed side panel are both good options. Everything is handled by our installers across the UK, and the full cost is included in the configurator price.

Are Emezzi's black steel doors actually made of steel?

Emezzi’s black steel doors are made from powder-coated aluminium, not solid steel. Aluminium is lighter, does not rust, and allows for equally slim profiles. Once installed, the finish is impossible to tell apart from traditional steel.

What black is used?

RAL 9005 deep matt black is the standard finish for our doors. Other black variants such as RAL 9011 and RAL 9017 are also available, as well as all other RAL colours. All finishes are powder-coated for long-term durability, not painted.

Can I get a black steel door without any glazing bars?

A fully glazed black door with no horizontal or vertical bars is a standard option in our configurator, in which you can design the doors yourself. The bars are usually chosen for aesthetic character rather than any structural reason.

Are black steel doors fire-rated?

The standard Emezzi range is not fire-rated. For most residential and office projects this is not a requirement. Fire ratings such as EI30, EI60, and EI90 refer to how long a door can contain fire and heat: this is 30, 60, or 90 minutes. If your project requires fire safety, get in touch and we can point you in the right direction.

How long does it take from order to installation?

The typical lead time is six to ten weeks, from signed quote to installation, subject to current production levels. The process runs in four steps: quote acceptance, measuring up, manufacture, and installation. After you confirm your order, we schedule the measuring visit within a fixed window.

Will a black steel door fade or rust over time?

Aluminium does not rust, and the powder-coated finish is UV-stable, so the colour holds well over time. Wiping the profiles down with a damp cloth every now and then is all the maintenance required. There are no specialist products needed.
