Smooth sliding doors
External aluminium doors, the steel-look for outside
Have you been looking for the steel-look aesthetic on a door and kept finding that the options either look too bulky or are not built for UK weather? We have the door that fills that gap.
The slim profile reads the same as the internal range. The engineering underneath it is different. Weather-sealed gaskets, threshold drainage, thermally-broken profiles, and multi-point locking are all standard on the external spec, not optional extras.

Why choose an overlay door?
Glass and thermal performance
External aluminium doors use double-glazed laminated safety glass as standard, rather than the single-glazed glass used in the internal range. This gives a meaningful improvement in thermal performance and meets the typical requirements for garden rooms and conservatories under UK building regulations.
For premium thermal performance, triple-glazed units are available as an upgrade. Our advisor confirms the right specification for your opening during a measurement visit.
Glass options for external use
Clear double-glazed laminated safety glass is the standard and the most popular choice for garden rooms, where the point is to maximise light and the view to the outside.
Frosted or reeded glass is perfect for door openings that are overlooked, where you want the light without the view in. Bronze and grey tinted glass reduce solar gain on south-facing openings where the summer sun would otherwise overheat the space. All glass is laminated safety glass to meet impact-resistance standards for external use.
Hardware and security
Multi-point locking on the active leaf is standard on all external doors, with typically three locking points, depending on the configuration and your wishes. Hinged doors are invented for external use, and an anti-snap cylinder is available as an option for additional security.
For double-door configurations, the inactive leaf is secured with shootbolt locking at the top and bottom. The security level suits partially-protected external openings. Fully-exposed front doors should confirm PAS 24 and Secured by Design requirements with their insurer before specifying.

What makes a door ‘external’, and how Emezzi engineers for it
The difference between an internal and an external aluminium door is not just the finish. It is the engineering inside the profile.
External aluminium doors are equipped with thermally-broken profiles, which means there is an insulating barrier within the aluminium that reduces cold transmission from outside to inside.
Weather-seals run around the full frame perimeter, and drainage channels at the threshold clear rainwater rather than letting it pool. The active leaf has multi-point locking as standard, which provides both weather compression and security.

Design it easily yourself
Configure your external aluminium door
Design your external aluminium door step by step in our configurator. When you select an external configuration, the weather-rating upgrades are included automatically. You do not need to manually select double glazing or weather sealing. Those are part of the external specification as standard.
Choose your door type, enter your dimensions, pick your bar layout and glass, and the price updates in real time. The all-in price reflects the higher specification compared to the internal range, so you can compare the two directly before you decide.

Measuring means knowing
Custom-made dimensions, fitted across the UK
Every Emezzi external aluminium door is made to measure. Our installer visits the site for a measurement visit, confirms the opening dimensions, checks the structure, and scopes the installation detail specific to external use.
Installing external doors include steps that the install of internal doors do not: flashing at the threshold, a drainage check, and a final weather-seal verification once the door is in place. This means a typical external install takes roughly half a day longer than an equivalent internal door. The door is then manufactured in the workshop and installed by Emezzi-authorised dealers across the UK.
