How it works

Ordering a custom door can feel like a big step, especially when you cannot walk into a shop and pick one off a shelf. This page explains exactly what happens from the moment you start exploring in the configurator to the moment your aluminium door is installed and working in your home.

From idea to reality

From an idea to an installed door, in six steps

The process runs in six steps: design, quote, survey, manufacture, installation, and aftercare. Each step is straightforward, and you are never left wondering what happens next. The typical timeline is six to ten weeks from signed quote to installation. We handle each step, so there is nothing for you to coordinate yourself. You only benefit from the advantages.

Step 1: Design your door in the configurator

The configurator is where most Emezzi orders begin. Enter the dimensions of your door opening, choose your opening type, glass, finish, and any extras. The price updates in real time as you make each choice, shown both with and without VAT.

Save your design and come back to it later, adjust the specification, or share it with someone else before you decide to proceed.

Step 2: Request a quote and confirm

Are you happy with the design? Request a formal quote. Emezzi reviews the configuration, confirms the specification with you by phone or email, and sends you a quote that includes the measurement visit, manufacture, and installation.

Do you accept the quote? Sign off to proceed. At that point, the process is moving.

Step 3: Survey visit

An Emezzi-authorised specialist visits your home or project site, to take exact measurements of the door opening. This confirms that the specification matches the conditions on site, and identifies any preparation or reinforcement needed before installation. The visit typically takes 30 to 60 minutes.

The door is manufactured to the measurements taken on site, not to the dimensions entered in the configurator. These dimensions may differ slightly once the opening is measured precisely.

Step 4: Manufacture

After the measurement visit, your door goes into production in Emezzi’s own workshop in Nunspeet (The Netherlands) using CNC-precision machinery. Every door is cut and assembled to the millimetre from the measurements taken during the visit.

The manufacturing typically takes four to six weeks after the measurement visit, subject to current production levels. This is where the custom fit is created, and where the slim 30 millimetre profile tolerances are held to the standard that makes the door look the way it does.

Step 5: Installation

An Emezzi-authorised dealer installs your door at a time agreed with you. The installation of a standard single door takes roughly half a day. The setup of a wall-and-door system takes a full day. Larger configurations with multiple doors, panels, or transoms take up to two days.

The dealer leaves the installation and goes through a handover with you before leaving, so you know how the door operates and what to expect from daily use.

Step 6: Aftercare

Your door is covered by Emezzi’s warranty from the moment it is installed. More information on the exact terms and duration is on our warranty page. The installing dealer is your first point of contact for any issues after the installation.

Routine maintenance is minimal. Wipe the profile down with a damp cloth occasionally, clean the glass with a standard glass cleaner, and check the hinges or pivot cartridges once a year to make sure everything is running smoothly. That is all it takes.

Can I change my specification after I have signed the quote?

Changes in your doors and walls are possible up to the point where manufacture starts, which is typically around a week after the measurement visit. The exact deadline is confirmed in your order. Changes may cause additional costs or delays, depending on what work has already been done.

Can I see the design before manufacture starts?

For complex configurations such as walls, partitions, and multi-door systems, Emezzi issues technical drawings for you to approve before manufacture begins. For standard single doors, our configurator visualises your door or wall. This combined with the specialist’s measurements is usually sufficient.

What if I am not available when the dealer comes to install?

The dealer schedules the installation with you in advance, so you will be sure the date and time work for you. You or a trusted representative need to be present at least at the start and end of the installation. Most installations finish with a sign-off from you on the completed work before the dealer leaves.
